The first release from Plant Bass Records, “Espacio Especial”, is a project by Carlos Niño and Farmer Dave Scher, who are widely recognized as two pioneers from the forward thinking music scenes of Los Angeles. Recorded at Bunker Studio in Venice, California, the title aptly reflects the otherworldly sounds of the record, and means “special place” in Spanish. Created entirely through improvisation, Niño masterfully created soundscapes with the rare percussion instruments that he has collected from around the world, while Scher coaxed divine melodies and drones from his lap steel guitar, pedals, and keyboards. The lush and blissful sonic territory of their tracks was elevated into even higher dimensions with the appearance of legendary New Age musician Iasos on track 2 “IntheWoodsbytheOcean” and track 7 “EspacioEspecial”.
Drawing from New Age, ambient, and improvisational music, but unfettered by any labels or categories, Niño and Scher have created a piece that truly raises the vibration, frequency, and consciousness of the listener. The latter half of the album features remixes by Leaving Records label head and artist Matthewdavid, along with his wife and singer Diva, Los Angeles electronic musician DNTEL, Californian jazz duo Mattson 2, Japanese beatmaker Azzuro, and Plant Bass Records owners SunEye (Akiko & Hashim Bharoocha).

プラント・ベース・レコーズの第一弾のリリースとなる「エスパシオ・エスペシアル」は、ロサンジェルスの前衛的音楽シーンのリーダー的存在であるカルロス・ニーニョとファーマー・デイヴ・シェアーによる新プロジェクト。カリフォルニア州ヴェニスのバンカー・スタジオでレコーディングされた本作のタイトルは、スペイン語で「特別な空間」を意味しており、このアルバムの異次元的サウンドを反映。今作は完全にインプロヴィゼーションでレコーディングされ、ニーニョは世界中で集めたレアな打楽器を演奏し、シェアーはラップスティール・ギター、ペダル、キーボードなどを担当。ニューエイジ・シーンの伝説的ミュージシャンであるヤソスは2曲目の“IntheWoodsbytheOcean”と7曲目の “EspacioEspecial”にフィーチャーされ、本作の至福に満ちたサウンドをさらに高次元の世界へと高めた。ニューエイジ、アンビエント、インプロヴィゼーションの要素を取り入れながらも、どのジャンルにも属さない本作は、リスナーのヴァイブレーション、周波数、意識を高めるに違いない。
アルバムの後半は、リーヴィング・レコーズのオーナーでありアーティストでもあるマシューデイヴィッド、彼の妻でありシンガーのディーヴァ、ロサンジェルスを代表するエレクトロニック・ミュージシャンのDNTEL、カリフォルニア出身のジャズ・デュオのマトソン２、日本を代表するビートメイカーのアズーロ、そしてプラントベース・レコーズを運営するSunEye（アキコ＆ハシム・バルーチャ）のリミックスも収録されている。
